Top quaility speeches from former Watford boss Graham Taylor and BBC sports presenter Garry Richardson, and a superb job of hosting the night by Sky's Jon Desborough made sure Alec Chamberlain's sell-out Testimonial Dinner was a huge success.
Just under 300 guests - including the current Hornets manager Aidy Boothroyd and many of his team-mates - turned up at the Watford Hilton to honour the veteran goalkeeper.
Apart from the speeches, other highlights included the auction - with a suit donated by Sir Elton John fetching £2,000, and a shirt and gloves given by England goalkeeper Paul Robinson reaching £760.
"It was a fantastic night," said Alec. "There was a great atmosphere, and i was over-whelmed that so many people turned up to give me such a memorable evening.
"Graham and Garry did me proud with the speeches, Jon Desborough was a great compere, and the band, Caprice, were magnificent.
"I am also extremely grateful to Loans.co.uk who sponsored the evening. It was a generous gesture by them, and I hope that everyone from the company, and their guests, had a great time.
"And a special thank-you, too, to everyone who donated auction items - from Sir Elton John to David Beckham, from Paul Robinson to Brad Friedel at Blackburn."
The next big event in Alec's Testimonial calender is the Golf Day at West Herts Golf Club on April 26. For further details keep an eye on this website over the coming weeks, but it is already proving a popular attraction, and keen golfers are already being recommended they book early to avoid disappointment.
