Watford fan Sir Elton John believes goalkeeper Alec Chamberlain has established himself as one of the club's true legends.
Wishing Alec well for his testimonial season, Sir Elton said: "He has been a fantastic servant to the club since his arrival from Sunderland, and his place in Watford legend is guaranteed.
"The part he played in the climb to the Premiership was outstanding…he was player of the year when we gained promotion from Division Two, his fantastic performance in the Division One play-off semi-final at Birmingham the following year, and then the brilliant save he made in the first half of the play-off final against Bolton at Wembley."
Sir Elton, whose association with The Hornets is now as an honorary life president, says Alec's testimonial is fully merited.
"Alec has always been a model professional and a great example to young players. It's not only what he's done for Watford on the pitch, but it's the role he plays off it too.
"Alec is an excellent ambassador for the club - he commands enormous respect from his team-mates, and the supporters hold him in such high regard because of his commitment on the pitch, and also because he always has time for people."
